Finite element analysis and experimental investigation of ultrasonic testing of internal defects in SiCp/Al composites

چکیده

Revealing the interactions of sound waves with both SiC particles and internal defects is crucial for facilitating detectability defect features in SiCp/Al by using ultrasonic testing (UT). In present work, we demonstrate feasibility UT flat-bottom holes diameters ranging from 0.2 mm to 2 composites through combination finite element (FE) simulations experiments. Specially, a 2D FE model consistent geometrical experimental one established, accuracy which validated theoretical characterizations P-wave velocity attenuation coefficient SiCp/Al. Subsequently, propagation behavior specimen pre-existing under UT, particular impact boundary on scattering waves, revealed detail also corresponding Furthermore, limit detectable size jointly experiments, based correlation map between echo signal amplitude established. Current study provides practical guidance composites.
